Much of the international media coverage of Venezuela’s migration and recent revaluation of the currency paint it as a humanitarian disaster. Not only is this coverage one-sided, stripped of historical, political, and economic context, but it also fails to mention the support and struggle of the tens of millions ardently fighting to advance 21st Century Socialism. ISC Solidarity Correspondent Jeanette Charles of Venezuelanalysis shares her insights, experiences, and observations about Venezuela’s current situation. This second part places the current situation in a broader political context starting with the string of electoral victories by the Chavistas culminating in the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro and the recent assassination attempt.
