At a time when universal access to vaccines is the starting point towards any level of normalcy, pharmaceutical companies hold our well-being hostage for higher profits, pressuring governments into onerous contracts that infringe national sovereignty and limit global vaccine access. As most of the world’s poorest remain unvaccinated, Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna together profit $1,000 every second. Their inaction and greed perpetuates a pandemic that creates ever more contagious strains such as Omicron.
